Considering the huge Asian population that roam the streets of Seattle, I always found it surprising that there wasn’t an abundance of Japanese noodle restaurants. Enter Boom Noodle, Capital Hill’s newest restaurant located on Pike. Yes, I did say Capitol Hill and not the International District or the northern parts of Aurora. Boom Noodles states that:

Seattle has long been rich in asian cuisines such as Thai, Korean and Vietnamese, but Japanese food has been slow to take root. Being obsessed with Japanese culture and cuisine, we wanted to help change this.

In Japan, when someone says “my boom” it signifies something they are currently obsessed with or really like. Well, according to Boom Noodle, they are obsessed with Japanese cuisine and bringing it to the fine people of Seattle. They have a variety of small dishes, such as gyoza, and a good selection of cold and hot noodles. If you are a first timer to the Japanese noodle bowls (which would be hard to believe if you live in Seattle) I suggest you go for the Tokyo Ramen (first picture above). Also, in case you didn’t believe they offer authentic Japanese cuisine, on Friday nights they pull out the ping pong table so you can eat and play; and, if you don’t eat your food they cut you down with a samurai sword.
