Here is I Will Possess Your Heart from Death Cab’s upcoming LP Narrow Stairs, out on May 13th via Atlantic Records. There seems to be a lot of anticipation and buzz about this full length among critics who are saying it is a departure from the increasingly poppy production style seen on Transatlanticism and Plans, and a definable return to their roots Northwest style. MTV goes as far as to say that this is, “…unquestionably the best thing they’ve ever done.” Then again, MTV is also airing another season of “Tila Tequila.” Either way, this first leaked track is a fascinating sneak-peek clocking in just over 8 minutes long with a nearly a 5 minute intro. For me, the song has proven to be a grower. I honestly didn’t care too much about the lengthy instrumental, but after a couple listens there is no denying the charming vocal melodies and lyrics that have become such an institution to the Northwest.
