Macbook Air Impressions

Making more news than Britney Spears’ latest antics is the new unveiling of the Macbook Air over at Macworld. Holy thin batman! This new Macbook is so thing that it would make Nicole Richie jealous (wow, lots of celebrity references today.) If you end up wanting to buy the world’s thinnest notebook you have to be extra careful, you might mistake it for a tortilla and eat it; or, you could end up forwarding it to someone you don’t like via envelope, as seen in the newest ad for the Macbook Air below.

Is the Air too thin? Lots of people love the think the thinner the better, but when one can throw a notebook at someone as easily as a throwing blade, you realize there has to be drawbacks. The biggest negative of the Macbook Air would have to be that you cannot access the battery, Ram, or actually anything that is installed within the computer, most likely forcing you to buy an external hard-drive. Which kinda nulls the point of the Macbook Air. being thin and portable to take anywhere.

In all honestly, the Macbook Air would not be a good purchase for myself. Both the Macbook and Macbook Pro are heavyweight laptops that can compete with the best out there. They aren’t that much bigger than the air. Sure it they are a lot heavier, but not heavy enough to break your back. The Macbook Air seems like the ideal laptop for a student that takes their laptop to class for notes (primarily graduate students) or for the constant traveler (business executive, salesman, or the Olsen twins.) It really doesn’t matter what the pros or cons are for the Air, either way it will make you look sexy. Do I want the Air? Yes. Am I going to buy the Air? I really doubt it. Do I want to use it as a ninja weapon? Hell Yes.
