I’ve got wood. What I mean is that I just bought a new ITS OK art piece and I got to help the environment at the same time.
Sighn, an artist that is based out of Chicago, has recently begun a project where he intends to carve 1,000,000 pieces of wood that all say the same slogan, ITS OK. Also, working with the Arbor Day Foundation, one tree will be planted for every ITS OK that is sold from the site.
Sighn used up every last piece of wood he had laying around the studio, that would be proper to make an ITS OK. While researching what the best wood would be to use for the rest of the edition, he began to find himself a bit conflicted. After settling on the magnificent (and massive) Bass Tree, he worked out the math to find out how many trees he would be cutting down in order to complete this edition. Using the dimensions of the smallest size of a full grown tree, he calculated that 1 million pieces would take 500 trees.
Always having to go to extremes, Sighn vowed he would plant 1 tree for every single ITS OK sold off the Multi Polar Site. Which he could quite possibly find himself planting 1 million trees.
This man could very well be planting trees for the rest of his life. The pieces are getting popular by word of mouth and I believe that he will soon have a lot of saw dust in every orifice of his body. Thats cool.
