Think of it as a taco truck, but for white people. Skillet Street Food, a “mobile joint”, is loudly making its food heard in the Seattle area. What specific Seattle area you ask? Well, it really depends on the day of the week. The fact is that Skillet is never in just one location; moving around to three different Seattle districts is easy considering the restaurant is an airstream trailer. According to their website, they buy old airstream trailers and equip them with fully functioning kitchens and locations include places such as parks, markets and even alleyways. Their market are people who appreciate and love food, so no trailer trash style food will be found here for you deep fried twinkie lovers. What you will find is Kobe Beef Burgers and Risotto that will confuse, like the Matrix sequels, you since you won’t comprehend the fact that gourmet food just came from this silver trailer. The food is good, the cooks are friendly, the prices are CHEAP, and the lines are long; but, most will agree its worth to wait for, even in the rain. You can find them in the SODO District, South Lake Union, Ballard and two new locations that include Fremont and Capital Hill.
